About The Trade Center
The Trade Center was established in 1975. Located at 801 Front Avenue, it was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978. The historic site was administratively listed on the National Register in 1969. After being converted into the largest manufacturer of naval machinery within the Confederacy during the Civil War, it became the city's largest, most sophisticated foundry.
Why We Chose The Trade Center
We chose the Columbus Trade Center for many reasons. First of all, it appealed to Amanda because it is a historic mill with incredible architecture. It is also set in a gorgeous location along the Chattahoochee River, ie. great photo ops. Another reason is the city itself. Amanda's family is currently living near Columbus and part of Charlie's family is originally from there. Not to mention Columbus is far more affordable than Atlanta.
Hotel Information
The hotel that we chose is conveniently located directly across the street from the Columbus Convention & Trade Center. The Columbus Marriott is within walking distance and very nice. We have a block of rooms under "Thackston/Holder Wedding" already on the books, so just call up and book one if you need it. If you prefer to book online, you can. Simply use the group code THWTHWA.
